Sat 23rd February 2008 |
The new year started at the Oval with a draw
at Bedworth United on New Year's Day, and then an excellent win at home to the
stars of Barton Rovers. Then there was the much awaited postponed FA Trophy tie
at Halifax Town, which, for those who managed to make the long trip north on a
stormy Tuesday evening, saw the Brakes master the elements and only just fail
to bring the Shaymen back for a replay. Despite the continuing wet weather
the away match at Stourport Swifts saw the Brakes get a much needed win back in
the league. This was followed by a home win against Cinderford Town and a draw
at home to Willenhall Town. The month ended on a high with an emphatic away
win at FA Cup heroes Chasetown, which sent the Brakes back to top spot in the
League.
At the recent LFCSC committe meeting our offer to earmark all
money raised from DVD sales to the Terrace Fund was gratefully accepted. |

Highlights out now. |
Sun 20th January 2008 |
A chilly start to December saw the Brakes
draw against Evesham, lose away at Romulus and kick their heels as three
consequetive cup games were called off due to frozen pitches - including the
long awaited trip in the Carlsberg FA Trophy to Halifax Town being called off
twice. Some warmth was restored by a good away win at Dunstable Town and a
draw that deserved more against Romulus on Boxing Day. For the last match of
a very successful year the Brakes came very close to upsetting Bromsgrove
Rovers in the Southern League (errea) Cup, taking them to extra time and
penalties before bowing out with heads held high as they finished 2007 at 4th
position after being newly promoted to the British Gas Business Southern League
Midland Division. |

a thrilling 4-3 victory over Romulus at The NWG. The festivities were completed

| Over £1000
raised by Brakes Videos this season. |
Tues 7th Feb |
In answer to the fair question: " 'Is the money
from Brakes Videos ear-marked to go directly to Leamington FC or does it go
into the pool of LFCSC money to be used at their discretion?" We've done
our sums and come up with the following answer: A bit of both: all sales
made via web orders and by myself [Nick Rogers] and other LFCSC contacts go
into the LFCSC pool. The majority of the money raised by LFCSC goes to the club
in its regular donations. Meanwhile we make a number of DVDs available to the
Club Shop free of charge and the money from those presumably goes to the club.
With the exception that a proportion of direct/LFCSC (i.e. not via club
shop) sales of the Colchester FA Cup DVDs have been donated to Oxfam for the
Afghan Earthquake Appeal - with £127 being raised to-date. This is as a
result of the informal deal done with the local BBC in return for the use of TV
clips on the DVD. Money raised (net of media etc costs) from direct/LFCSC
sales so far: Jun-Sep'05 £135.50 Oct'05 £130 Nov'05
246.92 Dec'05 £302.65 Jan'06 £161.76 The face value of
stock given to the club shop is £313 (Sep'05-Jan'06), but not all of that
will have been sold. That totals just over £1400 - thanks to all that
have put their hands in their pockets, purses and wallets and also to all who
have helped and contributed. |

| Press release - New
site launched |
Mon 18 July |
| On Monday 18 July 2005 the new version of the
Brakes Videos website, http://www.brakesvideos.tk, will be launched. The new
site will contain an improved user interface, news from Brakes Videos, sample
clips, and a full list of available DVDs and VHS videos.
Since 2002 Brakes Videos has been selling DVD and VHS
recordings of Leamington Football Club games. They offer recording of
individual games, monthly highlights and end of season trilogies. The profits
from their sales go directly to Leamington Football Club.
The new site will be a big improvement over the
old, Brakes Videos producer Daniel Wearden explained. It will be
easier for people to navigate the site and place their orders.
We must be the only organization at Level 5 of the
FAs non league pyramid that offers recording of games. We have sold many
DVDs to Leamington fans and to fans of other clubs. |

| LFC AGM: Creation
of Brakes Videos committee |
Mon 11 July |
|
This (Ed. Leamington FC Supporters Club Annual General
Meeting) meeting acknowledges that Brakes Videos was set up when the video
operation was handed over to the supporters club by Phillip and Nick Rogers at
the end of the 2003-4 season with the use of loan and new equipment, camera,
computer and media from the supporters club and others. This started with
a group of individuals ably led by Keith Hancock for the first two months and
subsequently by Daniel Wearden assisted by Nick Rogers, Jason Clough, Keith
Hancock, Paul Edwards, Phillip Rogers and Simon Hutchinson of Braking News.
After its on-going success it is now required that the
operation of Brakes Videos should be formalised in order to ensure its
continuity and smooth running. It is emphasised that the purpose of
Brakes Videos is primarily to provided a service to the fans and secondarily to
assist in the raising of funds for the football club whilst co-operating and
endeavouring to maintain good relations with all parties involved in supporting
and furthering the cause of the football club, including the football club's
board, management, players and helpers.
Responsibility for the running of Brakes Videos shall be
shared amongst a group consisting of supporters club committee members and
contributors to Brakes Videos. This shall consist of at least three
committee members, including the media officer and membership secretary, a
representative of the club shop and at least one contributor to Brakes Videos,
e.g. producer. All management, marketing, operational and editorial
decisions shall be ratified by a simple majority of the group and any such
decision will be final. It is anticipated that the need for any such
decisions shall be minimal as all involved shall endeavour to get on with it
and respect others advice and opinions. |
